Director of Bands
Mr. Chase Hampton is the current Director of Bands at Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee. A native of Hazel Green, Alabama, he graduated from the University of North Alabama with a BSED in Instrumental Music Education. At UNA, he was a leader in the marching band, concert bands, and studio jazz band; he also participated in the wind quintet, brass quintet, horn quartet, and contemporary ensemble, groups for which he also arranged music. With the Shoals Symphony Orchestra, he served as principal horn on series featuring major works such as Dvorak's Symphony No. 9. In 2019, he was an SSO Solo Artist and premiered an original orchestral composition with the symphony, and he received the SSO Achievement Award that same year. He was a student of the horn studio under Dr. David McCullough and the composition studio under Mr. Sam Merciers. He was also a part of the Honors College and is a member professional music fraternity Alpha Mu Lambda and educator honor society Kappa Delta Pi.
Mr. Hampton is a private lessons tutor whose students have gone on to honor bands such as Alabama All-State Band. He has served as a brass technician at Athens High School, Jasper High School, and Sparkman High School, as well as wind arranger for Colbert Heights High School. His student teaching took place in Florence City Schools, at Forest Hills Elementary under Mrs. Johnna Stafford, Hibbett Middle School under Mr. Russ Belote, Florence Middle School under Mr. Brian Jay, and Florence High School under Mr. Terry Ownby. Mr. Hampton composes and arranges frequently, including collaborating with directors on scores for award-winning films premiered at the George Lindsey Film Festival.
While at UNA, Mr. Hampton served as president of the collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education. With the chapter, he organized the Annual All-State Prep Clinic to assist with local students' audition preparedness. In 2019, he was selected by AMEA to attend the NAfME National Advocacy Summit and Hill Day in Washington, D.C., where he interfaced with other upcoming educators from across the country and met with Alabama representives such as Martha Roby and Gary Palmer to discuss the status of music education.
Mr. Hampton is grateful for the roads that brought him back near home in Lincoln County and wishes to express appreciation to the community for their acceptance and support.
